Hebrews 1

So he became superior to the angels, just as the name he inherited is more excellent than theirs. Hebrews 1:4

Jesus is greater than any other spiritual being. But this opening chapter of Hebrews wants to give assurances to these Jewish believers that Jesus remains worth their faith and attention. The author references times past when God revealed his Word to the people through the prophets. But now, Jesus is the one through whom God gives us his Word. Jesus is the one who is exalted. Jesus is the one who is praiseworthy.

In the past, angels would also do the legwork to convey God's messages, but this is no longer the case. The author of Hebrews wants his readers to have assurance that Jesus is greater than any spiritual influence that they may have relied on in the past. And because we rely on Jesus now for God's truth and revelation, we no seek out spiritual influences that do not affirm the Lordship and majesty of Jesus Christ.
