Hebrews 2:1-13

For this reason, we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away. Hebrews 2:1

As we have considered Jesus as greater than any other spiritual influence, the author of Hebrews calls for us to pay attention to the things that we have heard so that we will not drift away. This is the first of several warnings in the book of Hebrews; warnings that are designed to call for personal evaluation and recommitment to one's faith in Jesus Christ. What follows from this warning are the reasons why this great gift of salvation must be attended to with diligence. These reasons distill down to the authority that Jesus commands. As Jesus Christ is higher than any other spiritual being, he is also greater than any spiritually authority. Since all things are subjected to him, we are invited to subject ourselves to him, thereby relating to Jesus as the one who has been crowned with glory and honour.
