Amy Morin is a psychotherapist who wrote an article in Forbes magazine titled “Seven Scientifically Proven Benefits of Gratitude.” She points out that gratitude opens the door to more relationships, improves physical health, improves psychological health, enhances empathy and reduces aggression, helps people sleep better, improves self-esteem, and increases mental strength. With all those benefits, it would make sense for us to “Make Room For Thanksgiving.” That’s the title for today's sermon because Ephesians 5:1-7 uses the words, “but rather thanksgiving.” This text gives us some things to be thankful for, but it also implies that there are some actions and attitudes that we could take out of our lives in order to “Make Room For Thanksgiving.” May God be pleased as we seek to increase thankfulness on Thanksgiving weekend and all year round.
