Some Psalms are easily carolled from an armchair; others are rightly sobbed from a wheelchair. Generally considered the saddest and darkest of all the Psalms, Psalm 88 stands as a mark of the realism of Biblical faith. The truth is that sometimes believers do suffer their whole life long, and not everyone who prays in faith receives what they ask for. Some never discover the purpose or plan of God within their pain. These are just some of the reasons Psalm 88 is in the Bible. It’s the kind of Psalm we need when sorrows like sea billows roll, and if we’re listening carefully, it booms with the kind of Saviour we need as well. I hope you’ll join us today for a message from Pastor Joel Cormie entitled Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy.
