Happy New Year to you! Wow, how time flies! Can it actually be already 2020? If you haven’t yet, take some time to go back over the last year, month by month, and be thankful how God has been with you, how He has been faithful, how He has answered prayer, and done so many other good things. For some, I’m sure though, it may have been a very difficult year, and looking into this new year is not encouraging at all. We are sorry about that, but let’s together as a Church walk arm in arm through the highs and lows of life in 2020. A part of the over-riding purpose as the Church is to be there for one another; take note of all the “one another” statements in the Bible. Let’s not walk through 2020 alone, come, get connected, and involved as a Church.
This month of January we will be learning about what Jesus means when He says, “Come follow me,” as He invited His first disciples and as He invites us. What does it mean to follow Jesus? And where will He lead us? And what does Jesus mean when He states, “I will build my Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail?” And what does the Church have to do with me, what do I have to do with the Church? What’s the point of the Church and why should I care? Great questions indeed, I’m glad you are asking them. Oh maybe you haven’t asked these out loud, but many of us wonder. In Canada, church attendance is in trouble and one organization predicted that in the next 10 years as many as 9000 churches will close in Canada. Oh my! But the Church remains Jesus’ “Plan A,” we as Christians gathering together with Jesus to have an impact on our City and on this World – together. There is no Plan B. I believe that Jesus is very active in building His Church, let’s get on board!
So, welcome, let’s explore together what Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, says about growing in relationship with Him and His Church.
Sunday morning, what a great time to get together!
