John 20:1-18

They’ve taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they’ve put him! John 20:2

On the morning of the resurrection of Jesus, his followers had difficulty processing what was happening. They had witnessed their Master die only a couple of days before this. They were struggling for answers, struggling in their faith, and struggling in the midst of their great loss. It seems astonishing, but the disciples initially missed the conclusion that they were to arrive at: that Jesus had come back to life in the way that he had promised them. For ourselves, perhaps we also miss the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection. This week, may we consider what stands in our way from savouring the truth of Jesus’ resurrection and strive not to miss the wonder of the new life that he brings to us.
