Isaiah 62:6-12

And they will be called the Holy People, the Lord’s Redeemed; and you will be called Cared For, A City Not Deserted. Isaiah 62:12

The gift of Jesus Christ into the world has eternal implications for humanity. Isaiah 62 is set before the time of Jesus’ arrival into the world. In this chapter, Isaiah is looking ahead to a time when the people of God would be restored from the place of need and brokenness that they experienced. They would be called by new names: Holy People, the Lord’s Redeemed, Cared For, a City Not Deserted.   Today we celebrate and recognize that faith in Jesus Christ gives to us a new identity; one that is found in his enduring character and salvation. This chapter celebrates God’s promise of restoring salvation to his people who were described as Desolate and Deserted. You are made new in him.
